What You Missed So Far!
All set for Sunday’s 26th surf marathon at Vieux Boucau, France: come join the Twin Fin madness.
Storms, sunset surfs, movie nights, art shows, and strike missions across Southwest France & Basque Country.
The second edition of the Twin Fin Invitational kicked off this week as surfers from around the world touched down in Vieux Boucau, France filling the Ocean Shelter with boards, beers, and jet-lagged laughter. The week’s forecast looked unpredictable: back-to-back Atlantic storms rolling through but that’s part of the game. Everyone here knows how to make the best out of it.
The Monday October 20, set the tone early. As the sun dropped behind the dunes,
Vieux Boucau, the event’s home break, delivered a surprise golden-hour session:
Clean peaks, a few sneaky tubes, and that kind of French Atlantic light that makes you forget about forecasts completely. The rest of the week unfolded in true Invitational fashion: full of reunions, long talks about twin fins and board design, plenty of French wine, and even a few jam sessions at Ocean Shelter, led by none other than Tom Curren himself.
The next day, autumn hit full force. Heavy rain, crazy onshore wind, classic Europe in late October. But the vibe never dipped. That night, the crew packed the Hossegor cinema for the world premiere of Desert Rats, William Aliotti’s latest film project, a raw and dreamlike journey. A full house, loud cheers and cold beer.

Midweek brought a change of pace. On Wednesday 23, the spotlight shifted from waves to art with the Live Art & Shaping Session, featuring Ozzy Wright &
Pentagram Pizza painting live and Ryan Lovelace shaping boards on-site. Locals, groms, pros and surf industry personalities all packed into the space; paint flying, resin dripping, and music echoing into the french night.
By Friday 24, the storms were still dancing up the coast but so were the riders. The call turned into a strike mission to Mundaka, where a few perfect sets rolled through before the wind flipped. The day ended the Basque way: “Txuleta” steak lunch, a sunset drive back to France, and the Wasted Talent Movie Night, where new surf films rolled before the after-party spilled into Coolin. Classic Twin Fin energy, spontaneous, loud, and a little blurry around the edges.

Now, after a week of storms, art, and strike missions, Sunday October 26 is lining up as the main surf day. The crew will be back at Vieux Boucau Surf Club from first light, chasing the best sandbanks for the twin fin sessions. No scores, no pressure, just style, flow, and peer votes for the rides that stand out.
The community’s stoked, the riders are buzzing, and Vieux Boucau has fully embraced the madness. Stop by for a Sunday full of surf and good times with the crew.
