The inaugural

TWINFIN INVITATIONAL

The first-ever Twin Fin Invitational took place in Seignosse, France, from October 21 to 27, 2024, bringing together 34 of the world’s most stylish free surfers for a week that celebrated creativity, style, and community.

Created and hosted by William Aliotti, the event offered two days of epic surf in 4–6 ft peaks over perfect sandbars — some of the best conditions of the year. The lineup featured icons such as Ozzie Wright, Chippa Wilson, Tosh Tudor, Asher Pacey, and Jaleesa Vincent, alongside the new generation of European talent including Sam Piter and Juliette Lacome.

Breaking from traditional contest formats, the Invitational followed a peer-judged, mixed-heat approach, focused purely on style, flow, and originality. Surfers rode only twin fins and classic fish boards, pushing their surfing both frontside and backside — without the pressure of points or rankings.

Each evening, the group gathered to review the day’s highlights in a relaxed video screening session, where surfers voted for the most memorable performances. At the end of the week, Victor Bernardo (Brazil) and Ainara Aymat (Basque Country) were voted the standouts, each taking home €5,000 in prize money.

“It’s a way to break from the hyper-competitive rhythm of modern surfing,” explains
William Aliotti. “I wanted to create something that feels authentic — where people surf because they love it, not because they’re being judged. It’s about creativity, connection, and good energy.”

Beyond the waves, the week evolved into a community-driven celebration: a film premiere at Wasted Talent Boutique, a concert at Black Flag in Penon, shared dinners at Ocean Shelter, and a closing night at Coolin — all adding to the laid-back, family-style atmosphere that defined the event.

The success of this first edition confirmed there’s real appetite for alternative surf events — ones that value style, creativity, and community over competition.
